Our 5th annual artists’ retreat, October 24-28, 2022, at the historic Rancho Santa Cruz, featuring Charles Thomas, oil instructor, and Terri Gay, watercolor instructor, was a big success! Artists stayed at the ranch or commuted for five days of plein air followed by the annual exhibition and sale at Tubac Center of the Arts. The show and sale of the work opens Friday October 28th at Tubac Center of the Arts and runs for two weeks.

Workshop Fees: $250 includes oil and watercolor workshops, critique sessions, TCA reception, paint outs at the ranch and local outings.

Lodging: $750 single room, 6 nights: Sunday Oct 23 check-in after 2pm; Saturday Oct 29 check out by 11am. Includes breakfast. Some meals will be available on site, and restaurants are nearby in Tubac. Shared room $150 per night. 30% deposit due by September 1st. No refunds after October 1st.

Terri Gay Watercolor Painting Workshop October 24th:
Plein air watercolor is a challenging task with immense rewards! We’ll discuss equipment and other considerations of plein air watercolor painting and then head out for some on-site painting. Drawing skills, developing a plan and color choices will be covered. At the end of the day, we can meet up and share our day’s work, and set your focus/goal for the next day.

Charles Thomas Oil Painting Workshop/Demo October 25th:
In this two-hour class we will cover the basics of what goes into a successful outdoor painting; composition and drawing, color and value, paint handling, edges and putting it all together into a coherent design. All skill levels welcome.

Rock Corral Ranch, Tumacacori, Tour and Paint Out 10am. Located on frontage road just north of Rancho Santa Cruz. 
Finish your pieces and get ready to frame for Friday’s show at the Art Center.

Friday October 28
Complete framing and deliver no more than 2 pieces to the Art Center, up to 16” x 20” frame, ready to hang with wire, and labeled on the back with your name, title, medium, price, and phone number.

Awards will be announced at 600 pm
